The problem is that generalising doesn't really work, as so much depends on where you're coming from and going to. My experience with regard to doctors/medical care, and the condition of the roads, has been exactly the opposite - far worse in the US than in the UK.

I agree with house buying though! We bought a house in the US last year and other than the ridiculously antiquated banking system (a chequeâ€¦..it's not 1983 people!), it was much smoother and easier. We're about to try and sell a UK property so I'm preparing myself for the pain of that.
