Moving back to uk

We have been expats for 16 years and are ready to return to the uk at the end of next academic year. I am needing some advice as to where...our criteria are max 1 hr commute to London, preferably south west (only because I know this area the most) good secondary schools and market town, something cosmopolitan and a bit quirky?? Any advice would be most grateful.

Look at Marlow, Buckinghamshire. It should tick all your boxes!

You could think about the NE - around Saffron Walden might be worth a look.
