This probably doesn't need to be said, but think very carefully before you go back. Britain is a very different country from the one you left. The cost of living is high, and many things will not be to your liking, I fear.

investments if you can afford to, and don't cut all your Canadian ties.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

You didn't say if you had recently been back for a visit. I am originally from near Blackpool in Lancashire and on my last visit in 99 I found that :-

- The cost of living seems high (what you pay compared to what you earn)

- The whole country is crowded compared to Canada with frequent highway gridlocks.

- Be prepared for lots of rain in Lancashire. If you're coming from Vancouver you'll be OK if anywhere else be prepared for depression.

- A high crime rate. Many houses in the small town that I came from were equipped with alarm systems.

- The whole country seems more Americanized than Canada with greater consumerism, personality cults, commercialization etc.

Just a thought,
There are "moves afoot" subject to government approval, to turn Blackpool into the Las Vegas of England.
No disrespect to Blackpool (sorry Patrick) but I cannot see this working, however even if it succeeds on a smallish scale, now is a good time to buy property there.
After all, who would have thought when Donald Trump "took over" Atlantic City it would be the success it is today.
Also, who would have predicted 10 years ago that the Indian nations would have found loop holes in their reservation laws that have allowed them to open casinos in states where gambling is illegal.
So I suppose there is hope for Blackpool yet, although I'm not convinced with "that" beach.

I aggree with you It could be done, all it needs is Steve Winn (he built half of Las Vegas, the Mirage etc,
