Moving back on Tuesday! Prepare me for the reverse culture shock after 10 years in US
Tuesday is the day. I have spent all my adult life in the USA having moved here at 19, so I'm fully expecting to have a little adjustment to do. What were your biggest 'culture shocks' as a Brit, returning home after a long absence?

Don't have any advice but wanted to say good luck to you on your move. I moved to the US when I was 21 and now returning Next Friday after 18 year. I'm not too worried about the reverse culture shock. I did once when coming to the US and will do it again but this time with family and friends around me to support me.

One thing to point out is that there aren't a lot of reserves in the UK. Shocking, I know.

As I mentioned before the weird humour of some Brits can take some time to get used to.
Even now that I am re-acclimatised to the "dry", "wry", "sarcastic", "subtle", whatever, British humour, half the time I still find myself thinking, OK, I get it, but it wasn't particularly funny.
Not sure I want to get over that aspect of culture shock if it means I have to laugh at things that aren't really very funny.

Either 'dry' as in a nice fino sherry, or 'dry' as in a 4000 year old Egyptian mummy in a glass case in the museum...
