Moving back
So me and my sister who are British citizens are planning on moving back to the UK after 11 years. I had a couple of questions that I needed answers for, we are aged 20 and 21 is it going to be a problem to rent a flat if we don’t have a job or bank account as yet? How can we open a bank account if we don’t have a utility bill? How can I get my belongings shipped from here in the US to the UK? Would we qualify for benefits? |
Re: Moving back
You'll need to pay a few months up front deposits in order to rent.
If you have money to deposit into a bank account then you'll probably be able to open one. Why would you need benefits? At age 20 and 21 you'll be expected to work in the UK |
Re: Moving back
British neighbour of mine here in the Orlando area recently sold their home and shipped to the Newcastle England area some smaller personal items and used a company....firstluggage.com. apparently all went well and someone i'm probably going to use when i need to ship items back. As SD girls post said you'd be expected to have employment first before benefits.

You will also need to have your British passport ready before moving back to the UK. Once you rented a flat in the UK, you will need to pay council tax - a council tax bill in your name can be use to open a bank account in the UK. In order to get UK benefits, you will need to pass a habitual residence test. Have a look at the link below for more information - https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/be...ce-test-EWSNI/ |

Re: Moving back
email a few letting agent sin the area you are going to and ask them how much up front its usually 6 months but could be 12 months rent.
They may ask for some references which they could call. You need an address for the bank account. No chance on benefits as ya expected to work, show ya looked for it,... |
