Default Mortgage and Moving back to the UK

Hi there,

Another query, we dont have a large sum money to move back to London ( about £30,000). We want to move back to South East London to be close to my mom to help with childcare, but rentals are quite high in this area so I wondering if it is at all possible to apply for a mortgage with the £30,000 as a deposit even though we will not initially be in employment. It would be even better if we could do this before we arrive, so as to secure a home and apply for schools for my daughter. If there is any way to avoid paying the rentals I am keen to know how. I cant really stay by mom for an extended period as she is in a sheltered home so not ideal for her, a couple of weeks at the most for me. I also dont want my daughter to be out of school for more than is necessary. Lastly I do have a bad credit , my credit card, but have arranged to make a token payment every month, will this count against me?

Any experience or advice around my query would be appreciated.

Thanks

Really suspect you will have to be in the UK before getting a mortgage, IF you can find one from outside, and they are difficult to find, you will be paying much higher interest, and I'm fairly certain that none of the major providers will oblige, particularly as you will not be in employment.
