Smile Money transfer USA to UK

I am a British citizen. I am planning to move from the USA back to the UK next yr. I have been in the US for 6 years studying and now working on an H1B visa. My husband is a non-British citizen. We have a house in the US in his name. We plan to sell the house and move our assets to the UK. How should we do this without incurring too many costs/taxes?

have a search through the US forums, plenty of threads...but xe.com is the best way to do it.

As for taxes, no one can answer that without more info as it depends on how long you've lived in the gaff and all that as to whether you get hit with capital gains and what not.

Banks can do international transfers of funds.

But you will need to look at http://www.irs.gov to see what the capital gains tax rules are the United States.

Don't be shocked at the exchange rate between the dollar and British pound currently.

Your husband will need a spouse visa, see http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk
Is he an American citizen or otherwise legally resident in the U.S.?
