Me&the dog-Home 2months in Scotland-Thanks4help
I just wanted to write a wee update..but also wanted to actually thank everyone on here...
A while back i wrote on here with the whole 'should i?shouldn't i'? and 'how do i take my dog back'.
I got so many emails that not only helped/offered advice to me but reassured me about a move and all that would follow..
I really appreciate it!! and even stay in contact with some people...which is lovely..
Well we made it back to Scotland with no trouble - Now im going through all the same issues as everyone else...finding the job, dealing with the cost of everything in the uk...and the weather....
Sucks....but i now have my family, friends and good bacon rolls
A big thank you to this site though!!!

Glad you seem to have settled in, and your dog of course! Me and my dog arrived back in the UK just before Christmas 2011 after living in Spain since June 2008. We're getting sorted, although still no job, and it's great to have self-raising flour and lots of different sorts of bread!!!

Glad it's working out for you.
I'm in a different situation. Grew up in Scotland, lived in Hong Kong, returned to Scotland and got married, then moved to South Africa 30 years ago. My wife decided it was time to come back in 2005, and persuaded me to join her in 2009.
This isn't for me. I've been back to SA a few time for business reasons, and every time I land I feel that I'm home again. Back in the sun, open spaces and the lifestyle I love; despite the crime and corruption. My heart sinks when it's time to return to the UK, because I just find it depressing. I'm going 'home' again, as soon as I get a few things sorted out.
FWIW, this isn't a criticism of the UK, it's just me. I can't stand it!

Hi, We did this in mid-October 2011. We used PetMovers and shipped our scruffy mutt from Austin, Texas to LHR via Houston (IAH). Was expensive using the pet shippers but it gave us peace of mind re paperwork and animal welfare. Be prepared for a long wait at LHR. The animal reception centre folks are great (they were done in about 1 hour) but customs clearance takes forever - we waited another 4 hours and then had the drive up to Scotland to look forward to. Good luck !

Back in 2000, Suzy flew into LHR, went through the Animal Reception Centre and then flew to Glasgow (where she did 6 months quarantine). In 2006 we flew to LHR (I wasn't moving to Scotland at that point) and drove to Warrington before then driving to south Wales, where my first job was.
