This makes all the other Expat annoyances seem silly, insignificant[QUOTE]
You're not wrong there!
She really is a tough one - you clearly come from strong stock. Do your kids know what they're in for down the line (hopefully a very way down the line)...?

She does sound like she's on the mend, so I pray that there is a better outcome than first expected. Stay strong Frank, this must be one of the hardest things for an expat, and I know you're not alone, so I'm sending my thoughts and prayers to all those experiencing this

Re: The long sad trip home
Just finishing my story. My sister died peacefully yesterday evening. It was sad that I`ve been away this five years but, conversely she came to visit me in the US two years ago and apparently never stopped talking about it!

Frank, I wish I knew what to say but I just don't. I can't imagine how hard this has to be for you but I can't fail to be impressed at your Mum's resilience. Keep strong for her.

Hang on in there Frank. At 96 y/o I'm amazed at how she is still fighting this. Been through all this just a month ago. Same sort of thing happened with my mom, the disorientation, forgetfulness etc. Stay strong and best wishes.

I am so sorry for your loss, Jemima. It is wonderful that your sister obviously had such happy memories of the time she came to visit you, and I am sure she really appreciated you being there at the end. My condolences.
