Lancaster

There is a minute possibilty that my husband would apply for a job at Lancaster University. Any thoughts about this area?

My OH wishes he had gone there to Uni as he would have gone walking in the Lakes every weekend!

I used to work there many moons ago. Nice area, some scummy bits in Lancaster as any City has. Lots of nice villages dotted around the M6 corridor. Easy access to motorway to Lake district and South to Preston, Liverpool and Manchester. You couldn't go far wrong living in that area.

And the coast. Morecambe's only about 5 miles, I think, and there's quieter places all around Morecambe Bay.

Bev :)

Hi Sally...yes that's one of the many places I lived. I hated it...left after 3 months. I don't really know why I couldn't settle...as others have said it's in a good location for the motorway/Lake District/coast.

It looks a bit bleak in photos.

I lived there from April to beginning of July and it was bleak...full of OAP's too. There was just something about the place that I really didn't like. I moved from South Manchester so Lancaster house prices where a giveaway...but even though we were living in a much larger house I hated it.

It's a bit of a long shot anyway.

I would never recommend living in Lancaster itself, there are some seriously dodgy areas and if it isn't OAPs you are tripping over its some serious chavs!. If Sally doesn't mind village life there are some lovely villages to the north and south of Lancaster that are easily commutable. I am more familiar with north because I come from a small village between Lancaster and Kendal.

We lived on the very edge of the city...to the south. Can't say I ventured far north...in the 3 months I was there I was too busy trying to move back to Cheshire. ;)
