Probably somebody has posted this before, but it doesn't hurt to have another look, some stunning, snowy pics of the ever beatiful Lake District.

I was looking at the pics on the lakelandcam yesterday and it made me so homesick. I am seriously thinking that I'll either settle permanently back in Yorkshire or look into Cumbria.

We went back to the Lakes in May when we were home - we go to the North-Western side as it's less busy - and I actually burst into tears when we got there - I was just that overcome with emotion to be back. It's the most beautiful place in the world to my mind.

Whereabouts are you from in the Lakes?

I love (loved) walking the fells, especially in winter snow and ice conditions, so I am a little bit angry with this reminder that it will be a long time before I polish off those last handfull of wainwrights.

I absolutely love the Lake District and spent many happy holidays there as a child. Whenever I visit the UK I make a point of going there.....even if it does rain most of the time

I am from Liverpool Nicky LOL!!

But I do love the Lake District hence my tag. I remember many times living and working there last year just stopping and catching my breath at the sheer beauty of the place, I have some fantastic photos. I think I may open a Flickr account to share them.

It does seem like us Liverpudlians have a soft spot for The Lake District

I'm currently visiting my family in Kendal, Cumbria and have been here for about a month now - bouncing back on the weekends to Liverpool. As someone who's never been to the Lake District before, this area takes my breath away! The landscape, people, history - love it here! )

Just stunning isn't it? Each time the car or bus turns a corner when you are riding about another jaw dropping view appears...........

Enjoy your time there, will you be spending Christmas in Kendal?

OMG! Kendal is my destination when we go back (I hope!) We went there in September and fell in love. We'll definitely be going to scope it out again next year.

You got me thinking about it now as I hadn't thought of Kendal as a possible place to move to. But as much as I love the Lakes, it wouldn't be such a great place to live during tourist season. We were there in early June this year on holiday and it was heaving, plus the roads were ridiculous especially as people get very nervous driving on narrow, walled road.

But the thought is tempting........and I guess the towns outside the Lakes are quieter anyway.

The thing with Kendal is that it isn't really that much of a tourist town. People tend to skip it because it's between the Lakes and the Dales. When we were there, Kendal felt very much like a 'real' town whereas Windermere and Keswick were full of tourists even in September.

Haven't been to the lakes for oh so many years My BIL used to live there when he ran an outdoor ed centre.

I've been indugling myself for the past few weekends by watching Wainwright Walks on the History channel (of all channels) on Sky in New Zealand. It's a nice series presented by Julia Bradbury.

This series is preceeded on Saturdays by her Coast to Coast series, and on Sundays by Railway Walks.

Altogether a nice group of programmes for UK countryside loving ex-pats to reminisce and get homesick over
