job getting in the uk

hi all as most of you know i am getting out of this timezone of a place [perth] and heading back to the uk and after having done my maths i might need to get a job [any job ] that is permanent and pays 7 pounds an hour .
I have looked in all the usual places on the net and all though there seems to be plenty of jobs in that region of money either the hours are very small or they are temporary .
Any advice would be welcome ,thanks KK :)

7 pounds is a casual labour kind of wage, but temporary work is often a good way of getting your foot through the door and can lead to a permanent position.

But are you looking in the right place. What is your field? Are you still in touch with people you used to work with?

Yes I agree with above. Rather than think of what you need to earn, why not look up a variety of jobs you'd be interested in (even if temporary to start with) in the area you like - York wasn't it? You could do a search for employment agencies in the York area, and get registered with them.

Good luck :)

I work in construction and i know i could earn a lot more but its the temporary nature of construction that i need to overcome .
As long as its permanent i dont care as long as i get 7 quid an hour as thats all i need to go to the bank with for a mortgage .
I could walk straight back into work in my field but as i said its the way the bank and building societies look at construction workers thats the problem [ie 3 years accounts etc ] .
So my plan is to get a naff job at say tescos or something either nightfilling or anything really and wacking them for a letter stating my earnings and that the job is permanent .
Once that is done i would leave and go back to earning 30000 pounds a year plus in my own field , i know its mercenary but sometimes these things have to be done .
