Sounds weird considering an Aston Martin was cheaper by 1000 pounds! It's almost like these companies don't want to do business!
You know what I mean.. unfortunately in the insurance business the stereotypes that we all have - politically correct or not - ring true and are how they base their rates! Give it 5 minutes and someone from the insurance business will discredit this and give a lengthy explanation about "risk" etc. As for the Aston Martin - would love one.. wouldn't love filling it up in the UK though. ;-) |

I agree completely - but it's the fact that Civic's you can modify...cruise around council estates with loud exhausts and LED lighting...driven by Chavs etc etc - I never understand it myself. Whereas the Aston is likely to be driven by a successful businessman on his commute to the office! :-)

As dunroving says - it is all this ficticious "reputation" - even here in the states (where insurance is an even bigger scam) my little Smart car which is safer than probably any other car I have owned here by design and engineering - I have owned some new and old cars here - costs me more to insure than any of them... despite being the slowest (in acceleration) car on the market in the US and being limited to 90mph top speed! The mind boggles as the saying goes. My last car in the UK was a Vauxhall Cavalier....loved that car! It was the last model year made I bought it through choice...it was £580 and in brilliant nick... as for insurance quotes.. they ranged from several hundred pounds (none were cheaper than the car cost interestingly) to over £5000 for Third Party Fire and Theft! - apparently I was going to write it off ten times! (I am not a fool.. it is all liability that pushes up the price.. it is less about the car you drive, more the insurance company paranoid that you will say "crash into a Lamborghini and then spin off and crash into a hospital wing and destroy millions of pounds of medical equipment.") |
