Re: Irene
lot of our old neighbourhoods have flooded, lot of friends have lost trees and had flooded basements and garages.
We just got rain and a little wind, lost power for 6 hours, which is better than some friends.
Not to bad....though annoyingly enough this morning, we had to go to where the missus works to put up a sign saying the place will be closed due to Irene :/

Re: Irene
Power was out at the hotel for 2 hours.
Tons of trees down on this road
A couple came in to see if we had a room after their car hydroplaned off the interstate.
Joy.
However I dont think the power went out at my house which is only 15 mins away.

Re: Irene
No power still, local utility co say it will be back on before sept 4. After going a walk earlier today the damage/flooding is worse than I thought.

I've heard of the expression "the female is deadlier than the male" - pretty much spot on in my, admittedely fairly limited, experience, so I reckon it's no co-incidence that the most destructive of hurricanes are those bearing female names. The last such was Katrina, was it not?

Re: Irene
Despite power outages and flash flooding in nearby towns we woke up this morning thankful that we have no flooding, damage and we retained our power throughout.
