Hurricane Irene predicted to be a cat 3 and so far tracking takes it to the east coast of Florida. Good luck to all of you in it's path and stay safe

I am in contact with a lawyer in Puerto Plata - on the north coast of the Dominician Republic.. and have just heard they have been evacuated inland... My heart goes out to these people, Haiti and the DR have suffered so much...

I'm supposed to be flying into Philly from Glasgow on Sunday. Now I'm worried about being delayed, so I'm watching this sucker closely.

Hope everyone in the path is well prepared for it.

Predictions now look as though we'll miss the worst part but there's still a possibility we may need to batten down the hatches.....

Looks like the Outer Banks are going to take it on the chin. We will have a wild ride here in Chesapeake, VA though. I'm not supposed to be in a flood zone but the garage has flooded with a good storm before. Oh well time to secure my outside crap.

Honestly, I'd be shocked if they let you leave. You may end up overnighting in Canada or something given the predictions.

And related to that, if it does come toward NYC they are predicting we'll see JFK flooded and out of operation for a few days. This will be a nightmare scenario for air traffic.

The NY area airports seem to get closed down as soon as it rains. The media up here are having a field day with Irene...Mayor Bloomberg and NJ Governor Chris Christie have already issued a state of emergency. Christie said Irene could be catastrophic for NJ.

Well it is to pass over mid-long island on Sunday so that means the McArthur, LaGuardia and JFK will be closed, if not for rain, then certainly for wind. It is then to be going to Connecticut which will leave out Hartford for landing and then up to mid-Massachusetts.

Philly will be getting some rain and winds but if it stays on track they will not get the blunt of it by a long shot.
