Interest-bearing US dollar accounts in UK?

Does anyone know of a UK-based US dollar account that yields at least a half-decent interest rate?
Most of my money is still in US dollars because I just can't bear to exchange it while the exchange rate is so p*ss-poor (although at this rate, it could be sitting there for a few years before it gets anywhere near respectable). It's not a huge stack of cash but it's additionally frustrating that I'm not earning a bit of interest. I just called Barclays and they have a US dollar deposit account that yields 0.5% p.a. - that's a paltry $50 a year for every $10,000 on deposit.

What is it earning at the mo? Obviously don't know the figures involved, nor do we need to know - but would the amount you lose on the poor exchange rate, be made up for in, say a year, by additional interest earned on a higher UK £ account. You can get 4%, 6%, 8% and higher over there? Sure you've thought of this already but thought I'd put it out there. Bloody money - headache subject virtually all the time

Give HSBC Offshore a try with their online saver:
http://www.offshore.hsbc.com/1/2/int...-saver-account
current 4.5% or so for a dollar account, which is a lot better than your shocking 0.5%!
Edit: But looks like Northernbirds Nationwide Int'l is beating them out at the moment: http://www.nationwideinternational.c...lar_glance.htm
But then again, I'm not sure but I think they pay per annum, wheras HSBC will pay interest monthly, if thats an issue.
