Sorry, I started rambling and then got a bit lost I was interested to know what life is like back in the UK, having been away for 12 years with no vacations back there either. I am not sure where to post.

IMO Alberta's blue skies are seriously overrated. There's a lovely blue sky this morning over Edmo. But, the forecast is for more snow this afternoon and minus temperatures are forecast for the next week; whereas in Devon where I'll be moving in July, this week is going to be cloudy but 9°.
