i have had it under good authority .

Ah well ,im wrong im buggered in the head ,im crazy ,im nuts ,gone bonkers ,whats up with ya ? ,the weather ,ummmm the money , the beaches , the dog shit .
I have just gone to optus to see about cancelling my business phone contract and wanted to find out the final payout .Was speaking to a resonable fellow untill he clocked the undertones of my accent although mildly disguised by an australian accent these days .He said why do u want to cancel ? i said im naffin off back home ,im bored big time in perth .He replied with all that i have wrote above and he proceeded to tell me he had been here 11 months ,ermmmm i thought and replied with try 20 years .
Then he said you are the first person ever i have met who wants to leave australia ,so i must be wrong i thought and also Great Britain is also emptying apparently via the M25 ,i thought well that goes in a big circle doesnt it ?.
Anyway by the time id give him a good dressing down about things and how i thought and how would he know after 11monthes as opposed to my 20 years he did agree that perth is very very boring ,so i can feel another MBTUK member coming on in a few years .
Just another day in paradise quantifying my perceived treachery to this wonderful nation Australia .

LOL, I have got exactly the same response from loads of people as well. After you chat for a while though and explain your reasons I have found that 9 times out of 10 they start to agree with you.

So after telling you how mad you must be etc...etc...etc... the conversation normally ends with, "yeah I know what you mean Perth is boring isn't it"!!!

Exactly ,why do they end up agreeing with you ,im all for a good old fashioned debate and really ruins my day when someone doesnt stick to their guns;),some of them are just delusional and are just covering their decision thats all .
He did say ''what about the rest of australia '' ,i said in 20 years i have seen a fair amount of aussie and at 48 i really cant be bothered to invest another 5-10 years trying to settle in say adelaide or melbourne.
I fancy a change i said , not just british life but european life in general and i also said '' i may even come back to aussie one day but then i may not '' ,he was perplexed at this statement and replied with ''oh your going to go where you feel when you feel like it '' ,i said ''ummm yes and why not '' he said ''what a great idea '' ,i said ''i know ''

To be honest though wether we let peoples comments pee us off or make us question what we are doing or why they say what they say i think is all realtive to where we are in our own personal head space at the time....

I have stopped telling people what im doing and when and then no one will be able to sway me or make me start double guessing my own actions and happiness.....I have learnt the hard way with letting people in on what i am doing and nowadays enjoy the secretive cloak and dagger option lol.....Dont 4get ya bearskin hat Mr Kong you will need it on Skeggy Beach when we take our trip down mammory lane......Whoops make that memory:rofl:lmao xxxx:p

I don't explain to people anymore why i left Perth. I find the topic to be a conversation killer.
I just say 'i wanted to come home, simple'

( i really want to say 'none of ur effing business')

It was actually in one of their shops , he seemed pretty unhappy when i left .maybe he wants to escape too but just isnt admitting it ,but then again he could be a closet member of BE and just wont admit his inner feelings :)lol

i think there may be something in this. why else do people you don't know and who play no part in your life now or ever, why would they give a rats arse where you f*ng live!!!??? I've had near strangers say to me (Brits I might add) - "what - your going back to england - oh my god I'm so gutted for you" - as if I just told them i was going to cut off my left foot and make sandwiches out of it

then its followed by - oh we could never go back, we've so many friends here, we do so much more here, its so much better here etc etc. it does my head right in. how dare they!

but then again, maybe he's on commission from optus and needs everyone to stay!

The boring thing. How can Perth be more boring than living in Exeter, or Newcastle or Tring? And let's not have any nonsense about flying off to Barcelona every Friday night because no one does that very often.

Then dont stay in exeter, newcastle ,or Tring then just as i have no intention of staying in perth .Just incase you say ''oh why dont you go somewhere else in australia'' ,well i just dont want to . No one has to stay anywhere that doesnt suit them for whatever reason , what is it with fixation you have to go from Ato B .
perth is boring , even perth people say its boring only die hard parochial west australians who havent been any furthur then merriwa would disagree and of course the brand new migrants who certainly wouldnt find any fault in their brand new overpriced mc mansion and holden commodore they got all ticked up for for the next 30 years .
p.s i dont fancy barcelona either , mind u i may go to berlin ,paris ,brugge ,zurich ,dublin ,amsterdam .which all cost about the same as going to broome ,karratha, port hedland ,errrrm bali , bidyadanga and all the rest of non discript places we have here in WA

I have made it a point to visit selected European capitals when in the UK, but to be honest with you, I would not trade a life in Australia for three European city breaks every year and the other 359 days in a Birimgham office in the rain, but each to their own I agree.

The "boring" thing comes up so often I just wonder why people need so much entertaining.

Well, granted, Tring can be a leetle bit on the boring side but you dont have to drive too far to get a whole lot more variety than can be got within a day's drive of Perth. I think it is that variety and proximity thing which is the issue. Within an hour of any of those you mentioned you can be in such a wholly different space whereas within an hour of Perth, Melbourne etc all you get is more of the same really. You dont need to trek off to Barcelona when, for example you could be in London within the hour from Tring - or Oxford or the Cotswolds or maybe a little longer to Stratford or Birmingham or walking in the Peak etc. It's that variety that you dont get here without heading off with a full tank and a packed lunch.
