Just a thought,
Does anyone have an idea of the statistics involved in the number of people who come out to Oz and go back home again, and if so how long do they stay?
Am just curious..are we all in the minority here by missing home and everyone else is embracing their new life in Oz and 'living the dream'?
Any thoughts..would be great to know if I am just a freak of nature...

I don't know about Oz, but I reckon from the US back to the UK it must be fairly high. I think that the fact that getting the Green Card is such a hassle adds to it.
Out of the six UK folks I know that have come to the US, three have gone back. Generally the feeling is that if you make it past four years, you'll be here for a long time. The folks that went back normally did so around the 2 year mark.
It's difficult and some days are better than others. For me it's the extended family I miss more than anything.

Yes, it's a quite small percentage that don't stay at least 2 years... There's 1.3M British passport holders in Oz, of whom 245,000 draw pensions from the British Government...

We ticked leaving for good and when we gave the cards in at customs the officer assumed we had made a mistake and had his pen poised to change the card. My wife said no mistake, we are going home for good.
Officer replies, "ow didn't like Australia then", wifey says, "no we didn't, England's much better thanks".
I think if he had had a gun he would have shot us, he was not amused.
So I think, as the figures are based on filling out that exit card and judging by this blokes reaction, ticking leaving for good is quite an unusual answer they need to be taken with a large pinch of salt.
