Default How to get a long-forgotten National Insurance Number?

I’m posting on behalf of my sister and her husband who, after almost 50 years overseas, have made the difficult decision to move back to the UK. They will need their National Insurance Number to be able to get a rental property, but neither can remember it. How do you go about retrieving it? Thanks.

They should only need their passports to rent a property but they can apply to retrieve their NINOs here: https://www.gov.uk/lost-national-insurance-number

I applied via that form and successfully received my number by mail a few weeks ago. (It took 3 weeks after they received my form - I sent it Fedex because I don't trust International mail at the moment.) I've been in the US for 33 years.

I used the same form and got a very nice letter back essentially saying they'd never heard of me and I would have to apply at a Job Center so that will have to wait until I'm finally back in the UK!
