How Bad is Racism etc in UK

Re: How Bad is Racism etc in UK
I'd never noticed the karma button. Every now and then I look at my profile and see I've got 'karma' (the last was from BiP -- thanks for your kind comments BiP), but I was kinda puzzled by it. Now that I know where it is, I'll consider using it occasionally.

Re: How Bad is Racism etc in UK
An interesting thought provoking subject. It is perfectly reasonable to be concerned.
I am Pakistani-British. As a film title from the past: I pass for white...
But my older siblings did not, particularly my brothers.
They experienced racism as did my maternal family; it was unpleasant and upset me greatly,-but it is far better today. Far better.
I actually believe that racism today is as widespread as it always was, it is just that it is not openly expressed as it used to be. It is only the neanderthal types that will have a go, and thankfully they really are a small minority.
I'm glad that you are able to go to a 'better' area; it does provide a more tolerant environment....it is simply not done to mouth off at someone in such areas, and in fairness that goes for so many other less advantageous areas.
Until racism-direct racism is actually personally experienced, no one can know the pain it causes.
Good luck with your return!
