HM The Queen Celebrates 60 Years On The Throne

Re: HM The Queen Celebrates 60 Years On The Throne
I lived in England for 11 years. In my experience Brits, in general, love to make fun of the royal family. The queen is an old fart, she's so old fashion she's an embarrassment, she rides a golden cabbage, etc were comments I heard rather often. Not to mention scandals/drama about Charles, Diana, Camilla, the debate about who the father of the ginger son of Diana is, etc. And now it turns out that there has never been a scandal and that everybody loves the royal family? Come on, give me a break!!!
Is it that now, because William married a rather nice woman all is forgotten?

I'm no royalist but Liz has done a pretty good job. The rest of them are what gives royalty a bad name.

Errr.. No, to fellow Spanish...
Seriously, the contrast between the respect we have in Spain for our royal family and the complete opposite thing happening in England was very interesting but very understandable also. Before having a royal family we had Franco, so everybody is thrilled with the change. Whereas in England the royal family has been around forever and, let's face it, it's quite a circus and therefore very easy to make fun of!

Hmmm. Your punctuation sucks. I can imagine if the Queen saw that she'd get sour-faced!!
I usually induce the same response with my spelling! Typing on an iPad doesn't help.
I spent time in the Air Force, in the world of helicopters. Bumped into Prince Andrew at the bar in the officers mess at RAF St Mawgan while doing my sea survival training. Very different from the perception held by some that he's a free loading arse jetting around the world for a laugh.

Well, in that case, you can imagine how much I care whether I get your validation, or not, can't you?
