In her op she said the plan was to first have him come visit the UK to see if he likes it, even though he says he will.

Just another thought? Is your husband an active duty military member? If so, why not have him change his dream sheet to European bases? If he is USAF, they are still plenty of UK bases. Also, if you get your green card sorted before you depart, if he is PCSed, you can apply for expedited naturalization overseas.
