Help with code for fax # please...

I have been suspended from eBay because I tried to sell a Chanel bag set which is legally mine. I am appealing the suspension as I have a 100% feedback which I've earned and kept for over 4 years now. I have to fax my 'request for reinstatement' to :- 888 259 6962 The address is:-Attn: Reinstatements
eBay Inc.
P. O. Box 1497
Draper, UT 84020

Does anyone have any idea of the code I would use from Perth WA.? If not, can anyone tell me which code I need to find? ie: is this a Utah code?

Thanks in advance.:)

This is the equivalent of a 1800 number in Australia or an 0800 number in the UK. In US jargon, it's a "toll free" number or what the Brits would call a freephone number. It has no relationship to location.

The number would be dialed as +1 888 259 6962. From Australia, that would be 0015*-1-888-259-6962.

However, it is not always possible to dial US toll free numbers from outside of the US. If it doesn't work, you'll have to contact eBay to get a telephone number that will work for you.

*Confirm this code. It might vary, depending upon the phone provider. For voice calls, it would be 0011.

Thank you so much for your answer. I actually looked the code up and took a chance that I was doing it right. A recorded message told me that it was a toll free number and that I could hang up if I didn't wish to be charged. It all seemed to go through okay, so now I'm just keeping my fingers x'd.:)

Hi:

As they run out of area codes, they have been adding new area codes -- 888 is just like 800. There are four toll-free numbers. See

http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/tollfree.html

Just like any other toll-free call from within the United States on a land-line, just place a "1" before the number.

US toll-free numbers may not always be accessable from outside the US.
Or maybe that was the olden days.

Those who have toll-free numbers can choose to decline international calls or even calls from certain area codes (because, after all, they are paying to receive them.) It's not a matter of old vs. new, but what they've decided to accept.

Yes, the recorded US message said I would be charged for the call and to hang up if I didn't wish to be charged. Before that, there was an Australian message saying that I would be charged at the standard international rate. I'm just hoping now that eBay received the forms.

Thanks to all of you nice people for coming to my assistance.:)
