Hello from Canada
Hello all,
I wanted to get some information and i'm not sure where to start. I'm a Radiographer born and raised in Canada.
I'm looking to work abroad in the UK for a minimum of 1 year. I have a couple of questions regarding the Visa implications along with the job availability for Radiographers in the UK.
I'm pretty flexible in terms of where i'd be willing to stay. I don't have a specific city/town that i'm set on moving to. It's more for the experience.
So, if anyone thinks they'd be able to help with this particular topic, let me know as i'd like to send some questions your way!
Thanks,
JD

Hiya, I don't know much about reverse immigration.... But I do know someone on the Canada forum who was in that line of work and she came out to Canada. Maybe message her? It's Bats.

I was going to suggest asking bats as well, but you'll need to post on a forum one more time before you can access the PM (private messaging) function. (Spam protection).

I'm curious that you use the word "stay" rather than "live". this is a Scottish phrase that I also have heard used in areas of North Carolina that were settled by the Scots. Is it also a Canadian phrase or maybe just areas of CA that were settled by the Scots?

Completely off-topic, but if you reply you will have your magic 3 posts and can send a PM.

As for my use of the word ''stay'' i'm not too sure where I got it from. It's always been part of my vocabulary. Most of my friends and family use it in that sense as well. The Scots way of using the word is making it's way up to us Canadians! Haha

Re: Hello from Canada
Depending on your specialisation you may find you are listed on the Tier 2 Shortage Occupation List. If so this will make it easier for any potential employer to sponsor you for your work visa.

Re: Hello from Canada
Yes my job is listed there.
I am currently debating between the Tier 2 General Shortage Occupation Visa and the Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa. I meet the requirements for both Visas.
However, with the Tier 5 YMS I don't have to be sponsored and i'm not limited to just one job. If I get the Tier 2 SOL Visa, i'd have to be sponsored, and would have to keep that same sponsored job throughout my stay in the UK.
I plan on doing locum work and most locum jobs aren't willing to sponsor. Therefore i'm leaning heavily towards the Tier 5 YMS Visa.

Re: Hello from Canada
The major benefit with Tier 2 is that will lead to settlement and citizenship whereas Tier 5 cannot.

Yeah, i'm aware of that.
However, I think this will just be a 2 year experience, I don't think the goal is to settle in the UK. It's more for the experience and adventure.
But it's definitely something to consider.
Thanks so much for your help!
