have decided to go back

hi all, we have been in aus for 3 months and have decided that long term it is not for us, miss family, lower salary etc. since we have been here we have seen that life wasn't all that bad in the uk, we had good jobs, kids were in good schools and we had a nice house in a beautiful part of dorset. it really is a case of same s**t different surroundings the only thing that we haven't got here is support of a close family.
wondered who people used to ship stuff back to uk? used pss to get stuff out here but wouldn't use them again. any help appreciated

I had 4 quotes to ship my stuff back and Kents were the best..$7,800 for 20ft. Perth to UK.
I'm going back for the same reasons.

Re: have decided to go back

Congratulations on making the big decision.

I wish I could!

I feel like I'm slowly getting to the point where I probably could make that decision. The only things holding me back really at the moment are:
1. I'd be giving up a reasonably good, well paid job and taking the risk of going back to UK with no job and no guarantee of getting one. This is especially worrying in an economic downturn.
2. I'd be a bit unsure of whether I could have the sort of lifestyle I like to have in UK in terms of an affordable car, nice and affordable house in nice area etc.

Still there's plenty of things making me want to move back too so I think I just need another couple of weeks to make up my mind.

thanks for that info, will call them for a qoute in the new year. I'm glad that your very happy back home.

Me too (the man in the relationship) returning to UK from brisbane area for all the reasons mentioned. Had a much better quality of life in the UK. Just wished that the OH had not seen Oz with those rose tinted glasses. I just dont get this 'laid back, outdoor aussie lifestyle' thing. I spent much more time in the UK having an 'outdoor lifestyle' than ever I could here.
Sure, there was the winter but easy to get away somewhere warm for a few weeks in under 4 hours and didn't have to sit indoors in the aircon during the summer. Really envious of all you guys flying out soon, I have to wait another 3 months but being here gets harder each day.

Good luck with your move dakesojo. Hope you manage to settle back into life quickly.

Re: have decided to go back

HI,

We used OSS as well, found them extremely good and efficient.

We only lasted 3 months (89 days actually), before we came back to Kent, Uk.

We also used Airpets to fly our beloved dog back, but unfortunately because the turnaround was so quick she had to spend 5 months in quarantine with weekly visits in the freezing cold last winter....

I read people on here saying that in 3 months you can't make a decision, but the whole experience effected my health, so the best decision was made at the time for us. Once you know, you know.

Good Luck on your return to UK :D
