Default Has anyone taken a teenager back to UK halfway thru GSCE's?

Hi

We're considering the timing of moving back to the UK from Canada and wondered if anyone has made the transition with a 15 year old? She's doing great at school here, and will have done the first year of the four year high school diploma, which in the UK will be halfway through the GCSE two year course. She has straight A's and excellence attendance so no worries with grades, but I don't think GCSE's are modular, and so we're wondering how she will be able to pick up the GSCE courses half way through.

Has anyone else done it? Will the school take current learning into account or might she have to repeat a year?

Thanks

Hi

We brought our (then16 year old) son home last year, he had just started his year 12 in Aus (school year starts Feb - Dec in Aus) he was studying Tee's which are a little like English A levels. He has settled well into 6th form and at the parents evening just before the Easter break his teachers said he was a perfect student and was A in his studies.....our son decided to study a Btec in sports (worth 3 Alevels after 2 years study) and also has been advised to study GCSE (as Perth Aus does not have any formal exams until the end of year 12 for other countries to compare and convert) in English,Maths and Science as our Son wants to go to Uni and study to become a Teacher in sports. sor far our son is finding the work well within his reach and does not seem to mind at all that he is studying at college...actually its the local schools 6th Form.....I would advise you to bring (if you do decide to return to the UK) work from your daughters course work and any other information that you think would be helpful. We found every college etc we went to view to be very, very helpful. Good luck
