FLYING DOG BACK TO UK FROM NS,CANADA

Hi all,

We are just starting the process of moving back to the UK after 5 years in Nova Scotia.

We are stunned at the cost of flying our Golden Retriever back to the UK.

He is 80lb and so as we understand MUST go Cargo ???

Our quotes are between $2500- $3200 !!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can do this any other way but obviously his health and safety is paramount !!! If we are on the same flight can we reduce this cost ?

thanks so much. any suggestions welcome :)

Does your dog have a pet passport? If he does he might be able to fly back as excess baggage, this might save you a few dollars.

My two cats fly back to the UK this week from Toronto as cargo. The combined weight of them and their crate is 19kg, this is charged as 38kg (the airlines have a special formula for this). Total cost $934. So, yeah it's an expensive business.

If you have the time to allow, have a look at sailing back with Cunard.
