Our neighbours cat definately has all its claws judging by the amount of presents it leaves for us in our yard..... it is a good rat catcher!!

Yeah Daisy can catch rabbits, but I don't reckon she would actually "catch" the cat! they aren't quite as fragile as rabbits either.... but I also hadn't considered that he might not have all its claws!!

Re: First altercation with a neighbor over noise
Quick Update
Spoke to the HOA and the local plod. Both agreed that there are covenants on our sub division and Round Rock city ordinances that are very strict limits on the noise audible outside of their plot which can result in a ticket. I already told the moron that next time I'll call the cops, to which I got an OK, bring it on. He said he is within his rights to make so much noise I can hear it inside my house - WRONG. Also he told me I was being un-neighborly to complain and also my cutting the grass once a week was no different, to which I had to ask him if he was deranged, which didn't go down too well (I think he understood what it meant, eventually....)!
At least I have spoken to 3 of his neighbors who are also pissed off at the noise and have sent emails to the HOA, which will elicit a general email to all home owners on the need to keep the noise down. Did I mention this is an established sub division on 0.5 acre lots, and this guy has only lived here for a year or so?
His introduction to the neighborhood last christmas break at 10:30PM was driving 2 quad bikes around his yard and the street, whooping away with his music turned way up. Words were had then as well. I really can’t stand other people imposing their lifestyle on me, whether it is politics, religion or their choice of music, which BTW is a local music station, nothing special. And those who say, well it is Austin (supposed music capital of the world/US/TX) is I don’t care, at all. This is a suburban family neighborhood, not 6th street. We are 40 miles from downtown, almost in another timezone….

Really hope you get it sorted out. Having noisy neighbours is lousy. We've had a bunch who have noisy, drunken conversations-verging-on-arguments on their doorstep which is very close to our front window. We also get a LOT of screaming (and boy, do I mean screaming!!) kids in the communal garden right outside. We haven't said anything as the place we're living is temporary and the neighbours change frequently (I think there's been at least ten different families next door since we moved in 7 months ago, and we're the longest resident in our part of the street) but it certainly hasn't helped us settle in the US.
On the up side, at least it's getting cold and that will hopefully start keeping the noisy folk inside! Will be mighty glad when we find a house to buy though!

Re: First altercation with a neighbor over noise
If the OP will permit a slight move away from the topic, maybe you can give us some advice. Our dog has grown up with kitties (we have two) but they are inside cats ... I guess it's what you're used to, to me cats outside = cats hit by cars, etc.
But anyway - lately there has been an orange cat hanging out in our backyard. The other day I let the dog out to do his business, he saw the cat and took off after it, definitely trying to catch it. I've seen him do a chase after a rabbit and that did NOT end well for the rabbit. Apparently his cats are okay, but outdoor cats are not ... I was surprised to see that he differentiated.
I could care less that this cat likes to roam the neighborhood and hang out in our backyard, but what I witnessed a couple of days ago made me fear for its safety. My dog is simply hanging out in his own fenced yard but I don't want to see him take out someone's pet. I've tried to solve this by walking around our backyard looking for the cat before I let the dog out, or shooing the dog inside if I initially missed it but then spotted the cat. My husband assures me that a cornered cat is a formidable opponent and the cat will be fine, but it scares the heck out of me. I also don't know whose cat it is, so I can't talk to them.
Thoughts?

Cats can escape from most situations. When cornered they are formidable...I would be more worried about the dog.

A little advice for Tim F ..
A video is good supporting evidence however you will just be videoing the weather but just in his direction as he sits in his garage etc. Word of mouth is fine but visual with sound is always better.
