Default FAC (firearms certified) in Canada

Hello,
Appreciate the brilliant & most informative info on this site!

Here's my next question;

certified for all firearms in Canada.....Can I take my handgun home to England when I return for good?? Do I have to declare it, etc?? And/or should I mail this item to my home address in jolly ole?? Obviously, I will declare, in Canada, that there is a firearm in my 'checked baggage'.

Cheers for your help everyone

Handguns are banned in England. Minumum of 5 years in jail for breaking this law.
Scotland seems to have the same laws. 5 years in jail for this grandmother.

If you mail a handgun to yourself in the UK, you have a good chance of having the armed police paying you a call. Didn't you see the riots in England the other day? When someone who the police thought had a handgun, was shot in the head by police?

If you try to bring it into the UK without declaring it; don't forget there are armed police with machine guns at airports.

For other firearms, I think you will need a license from the UK.

From the Metropolitan Police site

Handguns are banned in England. This applies to any firearm with an overall length of less than 30 cm. However muzzle-loading handguns are permitted.

AND

Applicants for firearms have to show ‘good reason’ for possession of each and every firearm.

Here is a list of the Mets contacts for Firearms Licensing. I assume they will tell you what you can and can't bring into the UK and what licence you might need beforehand.

No question is a stupid question.

The time to feel like an "idiot" would have been when the armed police paid you a call and you thought to yourself; "why didn't I ask about my handgun before I took it to the UK"
