EU visitor requirements to the Uk

Can someone please advise me.
I have a Pakistani relative who gained citizenship in Greece. He has a National Id Card but not an EU Passport.
He wants to visit us for 10 days or so. You here a lot about settlement / pre settlement but not much on EU visitors to the UK.
Can someone please clarify if one needs to be his sponsor?
Does he need a visa before travelling from Greece?
Does he need a passport ?. He has a National Id (10 Year Residence Permit)card that is valid for 10 years.
Does he need the new Electronic clearance/ permission alert?

I have gone into the gov.uk website and started the form. I hope someone will clarify the above so i can apply with confidence on the applicants behalf.

According to the attached link, your relative cannot enter the UK with his/her ID card unless they have settled or pre-settled status under the EU settlement scheme. If they have a Pakistan passport, they can apply for a standard visitor visa.

If your relative is a Greek citizen then he’ll just need a Greek passport to visit the UK, no visa required, but he cannot travel on a national ID card.

I know he has a 10 year greek residence card and no passport. It looks abit like the BRP card they issue here in the uk.

You should clarify whether he’s actually taken out Greek citizenship or whether he is just a permanent resident. If it’s the former he can just apply for his Greek passport. If it’s the latter then he’ll need a visitor visa to come to the UK.
