Education in uk

We are considering moving back to UK from NZ in Dec 17. We have a daughter who will be almost 17 and completed yr 12 NCEA. We are led to believe she won't be eligible to apply for help with Uni costs until we have been residents again in the uk for 3yrs, ( no worries there) but we we're wondering if anyone knows if the same applys for attending 6th form to sit A-Levels. ie not classed as an international student. Have searched the internet and can only find that uk citizens are entitled to a free education upto age 19, but nowhere can i find out if thats only if you've never left the uk. Anyone offer any advice or been through the same thing?

I'm assuming that you are either British Citizens or have the right to abode in the UK? If so, you will not have to pay for 6th form education.

Please see the attached document, section 28 a) is what you need to read:https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...03_.pdf#page12

The college/6th form application form may well ask if the applicant has been resident in the UK for the previous 3 years (ours did). Just answer "No" and attach an explanation quoting the document and relevant section as detailed above.

Tizzles,

You and your family should consider applying for New Zealand citizenship before returning to the UK if qualify to do so.

Our son did NCEA up till year 13 then moved back to the UK and went to sixth form college. As I recall he was 19 when he started 6th form and it was all funded he or we paid nothing.
