Driving licence valid from date
Hi,
I moved to Canada 2 years ago and exchanged my UK licence for an Ontario one.
I'm now moving back to the UK so need to do the reverse!
Does anyone know if my new UK licence will show as from when I originally first held a UK licence (2005), or from now (2021)? Could make a massive difference on insurance!
Thanks!

Re: Driving licence valid from date
My new UK licence shows the date it was issued in Feb 2017 and the expiration date which is my birthday at age 70. When I then got my new UK car insured the important information was my age and a letter from my US insurance company stating that I had had no claims in the last 10 years. I needed no proof of how long long I had been driving.

If you provide your GB driving licence number on the application form your new photocard will show you having passed your test in 2005. It’s also free to exchange your licence in this manner.

UK’s Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has introduced a new digital service which enables lorry, bus, and coach drivers across the country to apply and pay for their tachograph cards online in a short span of time.
DVLA’s new Apply for, renew or replace a driver tachograph card service can be used by nearly 780,000 driver tachograph card holders. It also reduces wait times and allows instant payments.
The digital service, which is quicker and easier for drivers, is available 24/7. Drivers will receive their new tachograph card within 24 hours from applying compared to ten days or more when posting their paper applications.
