Drivers abstract

Hi All
Does anyone no if you can obtain a drivers abstract or proof of no claims while in Canada, so when you return to the UK you can purchase car
insurance without being treated like a first time driver?

Thanks

Wouldn't asking your insurance company answer this question?

I guess so, i drive a fleet vehicle for my job, so was just asking if anyone had done this, before making inquiries.

Hi I asked my insurance company for a letter stating my no claims bonus on my car insurance, they provided this no problem and upon return to England I "shopped around" for car insurance and went with Aviva who excepted my overseas no claim bonus and also got a great deal with them. Good luck

I did this with our USA insurance company. Worked well.

Yes. In Alberta, you can request a copy of your driving abstract through a registry agent. I assume similar set up in other provinces. I obtained this along with a letter from my insurer before leaving Canada and both documents made it much easier to find insurance.
