Dog microchip and re-registration

Hi has anyone had any success or recommendations with registering their pets with their exisiting microchips, once you've moved back to the UK.

So far I'm running into some walls trying to find a company that allows us to use their existing microchips rather than re-chipping. Otherwise the poor hounds will be full of little microchips every time we move! We want a company based in the UK, rather than US.

Thanks

Amanda

No - microchipping allows a pet to be identified by a chip inserted under their skin. It's RFID technology (here, at least) - radio frequency transmitted data.

Not sure why there would be incompatibility unless the two countries are using completely different technology.

If the micorchip is ISO registered then you can contact Pet Log Registration here in the UK 0870 6066751. My cats came into the Uk from Oz under the pet passport scheme. They were micorchipped over there and registered. Once here we should have rung this company and given the UK address.

Hope this helps.

Like poster above stated, Doesn't have to be ISO but that is recognised most in the UK just sslong as the microchip can be read. Whichever veterinarian that implanted the chip should have given you some details on what to do if you move address, and if not you should be able to find it on the manufacturers website.
