Dog Lovers Required.
We are in Wellington NZ at present, Maupuia. Looking to go back to the UK January 2009 (wife and I would want to go back home!!) Dogs came here in March this year from the UK but didnt get the rabies shots as not a requirement for entry to NZ, however going back to UK they have to have it done. Had the shots done this week, then in 3 weeks time they have their bloods taken. Dogs can then enter the UK (if bloods ok) 6 months and 1 day from when the bloods were taken. This will be about May 6/7 2009, wife is due end of Feb 2009 so we are looking for a possible short term home in Welly for the dogs, Jan 2009 till May 2009. If anyone can help out either personally or if you know of web site/company that may help PM me please.

Re: Dog Lovers Required.
Hi,have you posted this on the NZ forum?
Reason I ask is that myself and a lot of the others are in the same position as you are, currently waiting out the pets 6 months before heading back,so whilst we sympathise can't really help on a practical level. The other suggestion I have is to get in touch with a couple of dog rescue charities and see if any of their foster carers would be willing to look after your pups for a fee, that would be nicer for them than a boarding kennel. Or advertise locally for a foster family, you could get someone who is not but ready for a lifetime pet who would take yours for a few months. Also wondering if you had checked with the airline re your wife flying at 8 months pregnant? Good luck with it all, where are you heading back to? |

Hiya
Thanks for your reply. Really good advice, we really appreciate it! Yes checked with the airline and she can definately fly up until 36wks. We will try and see if anyone will foster them we are asking around at our works also so fingers crossed something will get sorted:thumbs_up: We are heading back to Sunderland. Where r u heading back to? |
Re: Dog Lovers Required.
You could try asking at your local vets - we've had luck using vet nurses/trainee vets as housesitters & you might happen upon one who would have the dogs to stay in their home & be grateful for a bit of extra cash.
Here in Oz there is a franchise - www.dontfretpet.com.au - which is when people will care for your pets in their homes - maybe something similar in NZ ? |
