Hi All

I am a returning British citizen and learnt to drive in India (yes shocking I know😀). My driving license is in English and doesn’t have a word of Hindi in it.

I found some resources which say that in the UK I will be allowed to use my Indian license for 1 year as long as it is English.

Getting International driving license is a bit of a pain in India , so don’t want to waste my energy unnecessarily. And it appears to be merely a translation of the original license which is not needed in this case logically as it’s in English.

I know its a long shot , but has anyone here come across similar situation?

I checked UKGOV site and answered basic questions and got rather generic answer that I can drive on Indian license. Nothing else was specified (e.g. that it has to be in English only or that it has to be International Driving license )

Gov.uk says that you can.
You're overthinking it, especially as your licence is in English.
You'll be fine.
