We'll chat the day before he knifes me, but... wait didya read the original post?

....and hopefully a pre-op visit, with urinalysis, CBC, chest x-rays etc.

Yes, I did read it.... I'm not very au fait with medical stuff, so probably way off base, but I think I would be instinctively suspicious of diagnosis by email :)

I would also like to actually sit face to face with said surgeon and not just the day before surgery either.

Good luck with the move though and hope you find a job :fingerscrossed:

While I very much appreciate everyone's well wishes on my return,
commenting on my medical choices isn't. You don't know the details.

So, if you could live anywhere in the UK that is _Not London_, where would it be? While I work in Tech, I have an Arts background and like those areas where artsy folk gather.

Good luck with everything, the move, the op, the Dog, and all! (I loved how you said Hell's Bells! I didn't think anyone but me remembered that expression).

Where to live? I love Gloucestershire. There's the Cheltenham Literary Festival and Hay-on-Wye for the bookish side of arty-ness. There are Music and Jazz festivals in Cheltenham too. There's all that art-inspiring beautiful countryside.
But--it is one of the more expensive bits of Britain...

Otherwise, St Ives in Cornwall, famous for visual arts....possibly also expensive though.

There must be lots of other wonderful artsy places, these are just off top of head.

I think I would pick the are east of Bristol: Bath, Trowbridge, Malborough, Chippenham. Within that diamond there are some truly gorgeous villages. Bath and Bristol are still easy to get to for the upbeat arts scene.

For artsy folk, there are few places better than Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. Locals joke that you can't live there unless you have a degree in textile design. The scenery is amazing but not for everyone - think The Brontes and Ted Hughes. It's also incredibly well-connected being just 40 mins by train from Leeds and Manchester, so good for tech jobs.
