Changing US bank account mailing address to UK
Before we left the US we had a couple talks with our local banker who assured us we could change our mailing address to our new UK address. We really just wanted to do this to get credit or debit cards sent to us directly instead of to iPostal where we're forwarding mail now.
We haven't done this yet but are ready to. We can't see a downside at the moment in doing this, anyone have any comments either way? Social Security is direct deposit to our US account so that shouldn't be an issue there, IRS... well, we don't know if that generates an issue. Shouldn't, but... |
Re: Changing US bank account mailing address to UK
We plan to use our daughters' US address as a c/o address on our US bank account once we move back to the UK. Interested to see the pros and cons of either option.

We rented a PO box, then had the mail sent once per month to Canada. If we knew there was something urgent we asked them to send it right away.

Re: Changing US bank account mailing address to UK
The only downside may be not having a US credit card with a US address. Our US bank has our UK address but we left our US Amex account with our daughter’s US address which was just as well one or vendors such as Amazon.com where we buy TurboTax won’t accept a US card with a UK address.
