car insurance
I have just returned to UK after living in Malta for 11 years. I am trying to find car insurance but am being quoted silly amounts because my licence is an EU one!! Even though it is perfectly OK to drive on here. Does anyone know a company that will not rip people off? I am 61, lived in the UK for 50 years until going abroad and always had full NCB on car insurance!

Re: car insurance
Your NCB only stays valid for a set amount of time unfortunately, sounds like you'll be starting from scratch with 0 years unless there is a way of getting foreign driving experience recognised (no idea on that I'm afraid). But have a look at a comparison website like confused.com or moneysupermarket.com, so you can find your cheapest quote.
Buy through a cash back website as well like Quidco or TopCashback, and that'll knock a bit off.

there are several insurance companies that honor no claims bonuses from abroad. My son choose Aviva last year because they are one of the few that honor US insurance company letters as proof of ncb. Do a bit of googling and phoning and “compare the market” websites etc.

Re: car insurance
since you have lived in The UK for 50 years then you almost certainly had a British licence before you left 11 years ago. If so, that licence will either still be valid if it was the old green one, or an expired picture id. If you have lost it you can still get it re-issued

You can exchange your Maltese licence for your UK licence for free using Form D1 which you can pick up from the Post Office. You'll need to quote your driving licence number. If you don't have your old UK licence then you can ring DVLA and ask them what it is.
