We have been here all winter and now returning to Canada but we can't sell our Mazda automatic car. Has anyone else had this problem?

Nope. We sold our car for buttons. (Going the other way UK->CA)

The problem wasnt selling it. It was accepting we were going to have to take a bath on it.

We found it an absolute nightmare selling our car. In fact it took a month after leaving Canada to sell the thing. We were messed around by two buyers on Ebay but finally got rid of it. Fortunately my wife's parents took care of everything after we had gone.

Are you leaving canada or leaving the Uk? I'm presuming your leaving UK to go back to Canada as thats what it says, but not sure. BTW - i love Mazdas!

We just nocked 2 grand of ours and sold it in about 3 mins online, u just gotta take the hit

I just sold mine at Carmax in about 90 minutes. They paid about $500 under blue book but it was worth it to just get it done. Not sure if they have Carmax there though.

I would expect a dealer to offer you a price ... but perhaps not the price you might aspire to.

Thanks for replies. We accept we will have to lose on it but it will still work out cheaper than renting a car 6 months while in UK.

We will probably end up with a dealer or the unwanted car people. We have 2 weeks left before returning to Canada so this week we will check out these people.

Same here for us, I have just waved the car goodbye and once again someone has "done well" out of us....lol...I just look at it as one less string and hopefully the other way around we can find a bargain..well you can hope...

If it's not selling then it's overpriced. We just sold our car within 3 days, purposely priced it $1000 less than equivalent cars for sale to make sure it sells. The last thing you want to do is take it to a stealer, you will be VERY shocked.

Just like selling used furniture, even when it is in prime condition. Like you say, when moving countries, it is just something you have to bite the bullet on.

Why's a car auction a last resort? We are off to one on Saturday with the hopes of picking up a bargain but previous experiences tell us it's not always cheap and quite often the cars sell for more than in the local classifieds as people get bid happy and don't stop waiving their flappy bits of paper You just don't want to be in the first 150 and last 150 cars, the auctions are busiest between 10am and 3pm.
