Hello!
I have a bit of a weird situation I could use some advice on. I am a Canadian citizen living in the UK right now working remotely for a Canadian company. I have significant ties to Canada (a car, my entire family, my job, bank accounts) and everything I've read says that I am factually a Canadian tax resident due to this, which is fine as I am currently paying Canadian income tax. I live in the UK however most of the year with my longterm girlfriend who is from the UK.
Do I have to report anything to HMRC? I also have an EU passport from my mother that allows me to live in the UK.
Thanks so much for any help.

If you live in the UK for the majority of the year and you are earning an income,(working) you should be paying taxes to the UK.
Your options are (usually):
- go self employed and invoice your Canadian company and then do self assessment to the HRMC
- your Canadian company gets a UK presence in order to pay and tax you in the UK
Post Brexit your EU passport means you don't have automatic right to work in the UK

If you have an EU passport then you should apply for status under the EU Settlement Scheme before 30 June if you haven’t already done so.

Even if poster does this, he still needs to sort out his work and taxes situation. If he resides in the UK then he needs to be paying taxes in the UK
