That's not correct, in some instances it's allowed and is assessed on a case by case basis.

When we bought our house in Brisbane the broker we had come round suggested we would could borrow more if I applied as a single man (I had been married around 15 years at that stage), also say I had no dependants (wife was 6 months pregnant with twins) He was right though we did get more

Any sources you can link the OP to, so he can confirm this?

To the OP: The MoneySavingExpert site is a good place to start for almost any impartial financial advice you want. they have a free mortgage guide available at:

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/mor...mortgage-guide

- they don't always have the kind of advice you might need if you are an unusual case, but it's worth a look.

As mentioned it's on a case by case so the lenders will probably need full information.

It doesn't necessary follow the info is on websites, if you look at the Marsden building society website it tells you they do expat mortgages with very little detail.

Some mortgage deals are exclusive to brokers and therefore not available generally to the public direct.

I have spoken with the lender and the criteria is as follows

Min loan £100,000
Maximum percentage borrowed (LTV) 70%

requirements

UK bank account
3months wage slips in current employment
3 months bank statements from current bank
Employment reference from current employment
Copy of passports & money laundering checks.

This is for information purposes only and the lender is not disclosed as could be construed as advice.

You are best to use the services of an adviser as mentioned above not all schemes are made available directly.

Most mortgage brokers who conduct the right research should be able to help, those who specialise in ex pats or IFA's like ourselves or you could use a website called cherry find and put out an enquiry through them.

Hope that helps

( I chose to ignore whats being implied and will not get involved in unconstructive banter, I'm only trying to help people where and if I can)
