[QUOTE=JAJ;4926759]Day off from work and a barbecue is a great start. Maybe some fireworks. Just like the Aussies do on 26 January.

Living in a good and free country is as good a reason as any to celebrate once a year."

We should celebrate that EVERY day of our lives...

So each country in the UK should have national celebrations on their respective saint's days. And then we all get together and have a jolly old Britain Day. Well, I suppose most people would opt in if it meant 2 extra days off work a year. Why not have a Europe Day whilst we're at it?

It's always possible to reallocate or rename a bank holiday, but in the end the UK isn't over-supplied with public holidays. So an extra 1 or 2 a year won't hurt.

Incidentally - Britain Day would not be an alternative to St Andrews Day or the equivalents in other parts of the United Kingdom.
Okay-you've twisted my arm-I might have to join in-can't miss a good barbecue!
