Default Black scorpion type of thing

About an inch long, all black, looks a bit like a lobster/crab/scorpion, whatizzit? So Cal. Wife says it's not a scorpion, I'm not about to test it. Sorry, would have photo but splattered bug probably not too helpful.

Well can you piece it back together and then take a picture?

I'm from So Cal and that doesn't sound too familiar, but then again, I'm not a bug person...

You can find scorpions in California. Lobsters on shore, maybe not so much.

Not sure about the colour, but maybe this helps?

We have very small scorpians, they are brown colour and can be about an inch long.
I have stepped on one it's like a bee sting nothing very serious.
They do look like little lobsters.

Key feature would be the tail.

Shake your shoes out and don't leave clothes lying on the floor.

Ok, maybe not a scorpion then as it doesn't have the stinger. Ugly thing though

Managed to find one outside.

Earwigs, they're always hanging around the berry fruits, especially if you've got red currants.

Only citrus - lemons, oranges, grapefruit. But they like pizza, can swim, and like dark places. Hmm, a bit like DS...

Strangely enough I recently found a dead Shrimp in my car port. I am about 4 miles from the shore. Figured a bird dropped it and it crawled in and died
