You'd love it Robin, top brands and you can snag discounts up to 90% if you have a good look around. It's huge so takes quite a while to walk around, I always found I needed a glass of wine halfway through it

I’d need to take my wife with me if I wanted to snag discounts, and she only drinks beer (until after 10pm.)

You simple can't compare most British homes to American ones. Americans build much more spacious homes because they don't generally build in brick. Brick built homes are the norm in the UK and are therefore much more expensive with less space.
You showed a home in Bolton . We used to live in a village not far from there. I loved that town. My family have strong connections to the Wirral as well. We lived in Southport for 11 yrs and I would have stayed there for good . OH certainly would for the golf. Heh ho. I got 30 yrs of the Netherlands instead
My friends are set on a move to either Manchester or Birmingham. I get the impression both areas would work and the school systems are top notch based on their research. My wife and I kind of hope they pick Manchester but either way we'll be happy for them. I do know his favorite football team is in Manchester. I told him it's not selfish to be loyal. lol

They seem to like several style of home. She would like a home with a old fashion kitchen with all the conveniences and a few common areas. He is looking for a house on a large lot. Their dream home would be built of mostly stone but with their budget that goal might be asking for too much. And they are already stretching their original budget. They both want large fireplaces and deep bath tubs. I've told both of them you get what you pay for and a home is where you spend much of your time so why not look for comfort.

They heard from their real estate agent about a few rentals, so the process has officially begun. A little too soon but at least moving in the right direction. Time goes by very fast.. And they are open to buying quickly depending on the situation. They would rather wait a few months but time will tell.

Hi, most homes are built of stone here in the uk, glad to hear your friends have narrowed the Search down, that makes it easier. It all depends on their budget really, there plenty of homes with their wish list, it all depends though on what they can actually afford. I hope all goes well with their plans.

Finding a spacious house with character is an achievable goal but locating the idea property might take them a while. Either way their still going to be down sizing compared to the previous stateside home that was 5000 square feet. But they will learn to adjust. Always trade offs. Maybe finding a large stone house in their budget could be difficult but a house partially of stone is very possible.

This Manchester home is very nice. A bundle of joy in an affordable price. In Davenport.

I totally agree. That property would be so much better if the lot was bigger and had more privacy. Btw, my friends are back in the States made it home safely. And our dog sitting duties came to a end. We watched both their little pets for them.

Glad they arrived home safely. Spring is just around the corner so they will soon be packing and heading back.
We are starting our journey home Saturday and will get to see our dog Monday. I think it will only take a hot minute before he realizes who we are.
