They are different. If you just want to use Wise as a forex company then the bank details you wire money to is different to the bank used by Wise that gives you a US bank routing number and personal account number.
You don't have to have a Wise "checking account" to send money overseas using Wise.

I just did a test using my Wise account and after selecting Send Money, then "From your bank", then don't select "Yourself" as the recipient, select "Someone Else". You should then be prompted for the UK bank details including sort code and account number. You can choose your own UK bank account or any others, and then save this recipient with a nickname of your choice (I chose my initials). In future transfers that saved recipient shows up with the nickname, a small union jack, the words GBP and the last 4 digits of the destination account number.
