Hi everyone, PhillyD here, yes still alive and kicking. As you know I arrived home in England from Vancouver in March 2005, and my husband Simon was due to join me in June 2005.

Things didn't exactly go according to plan or as smoothly as I have believed owing to the very sudden (or so he said) change of heart my Husband Simon had, and therefore choose to stay in Vancouver working at the River Rock Casino. I was devastated, but realised I had always been in a position of 'his way or the highway', so walked towards the future. Of course he says he "loves me and always has and always will" but had to consider his future and put his career first. Can any of you men tell me what makes a man pack up his entire home send it off to the docks, tell his wife he wants to go home to England, that he is looking forward to it. And then write a letter every day, and emails and phone calls every day, for almost three month, confirming his undying love and then at the last minute decide not to come after all. Of course another woman!!! one who wants to stay in Canada.

However I have a great Job here working with wonderful people, It is FANTASTIC to be back. My family and friends have been so supportive and we have had some great times since I arrived. I do not regret returning at all, I am very happy again at last. I miss the scenery, the mountains and the sea on my doorstep, but that is all.

Life here is great, prices are good, and the amazing cheap flights to Europe are fantastic. I even went to the West of Ireland from Stanstead for £15 return, that included the taxes. There are plenty of jobs available and it is so nice to enjoy the English sense of humour again. Property is expensive, but it always was, the property prices in Vancouver were rising rapidly when I left there, no doubt they still are.

So if any of you are wondering about coming home, and really want to, then I say take the leap, it feels good to be back.

I still do not have my possessions, they arrived ( 50% of them) at Thamesport dock on Boxing day, and are awaiting customs clearance It will be sad of course to unpack the things we had together, ten years of my life, but things happen for a reason and I will never regret coming back.

Happy New Year

Ahh, bless you. Look forward to the future, at least you are somewhere you want to be. Can't say much about your hubby but I'm sure he's the one missing out. It all does happen for a reason and will feel better down the line.

Wow, Phillyd,
you've been through a lot with that 'hubby' changing his mind like that and leaving you. What a fool! look how good you are doing for yourself, and your outlook is so good. You are amasing to have such a good attitude after that. Best of luck to you.

Wow that's got to be one of the lowest acts I've read in a long time, what a twat. It may be he is having a fling with somebody at the Casino in which case you're the better for now being away from him. It's actually better both ways because somebody who loves their career more than a warm beautiful companion is bound to cause misery in the long run.

Relationships are weird huh, you know we never truely fall in love with another person it's always a dillusion of our own mind. We all, if we're honest are in love with how we project that other person. That's why it's possible to love many times. You just have to allow yourself to.

Also plenty of single men in the UK and with the internet you're never short of offers
