Back to Blighty in the new year

For a number of reasons we are looking to return to the UK next year. Australia is a great country but the lure of family/friends etc is too appealing to ignore.

If anyone has recently moved back can you recommend any removal agents/container companies etc, and how much it cost you.

Would be interested to find out if anyone has shared a container and how it worked out.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there - we've just had a quotation from Wridgeways for a 20ft container, Melbourne to Manchester $7280.

Good luck with your move.

We went with Allied Pickfords from Perth to Manchester, they were fantastic Perth end but not as great this end - saying that all our stuff got here in time and in one piece so thats all you can ask for!! ours cost around $10,000 including pack/unpack and insurance.

We used Crown on a reccomendation. Fantastic, and pretty cheap. It cost $2,500 to ship to the UK from Sydney We didn't know exactly where we'd be in the UK so we had it priced to my sister's house in Bucks.

This was for 4.1 cu mtrs as we sold a lot of stuff. They pack it all (you don't save any money by packing yourself and you'll end up with a lot of paperwork if you do), box it, you sign some stuff and done,,too easy.

Unfortunately we returned here and our container was 'turned around' in the UK having never been opened. Strangely the return journey was only $1,650! Downhill I guess :D

I think Crown use Bishops Move to handle the UK end. Everyone was very helpful. I don't have the numbers but give Sarah Chavez a call, she'll give you a good price (PM me if you want my name,,she'll remember us ! :o )

I think insurance was 3% of total worth.

What and leave his 4by2 with a swimming pool ??

I did offer him a 3by1 with a large pond, but he did not find it funny.. he has come here and lost his sense of humour, must be working with all those Aussies..

He aint a bit like my hubby then - next to his golf clubs, the remote is his most prized possession (to watch the golf on TV). He'd live in a cupboard as long as he could have those two things. I've had to have it surgically removed from his arm countless times.

I'm with you on the barbies - can't for the life of me see the attraction. I do like some stuff cooked on the barbie now and again, but don't enjoy eating outside with all the flies sharing it with me.
