BA 777 Crash-Lands At Heathrow
Amazingly, only 3 people are believed to have suffered minor injuries.
Here's BBC's account of what happened;

BA, in an effort to take care of the passengers, placed a large order for clean underwear, once they reached the terminal.
Jim.

It's still unclear whether there was a problem prior to landing or just at the time of landing. The undercarriage of the plane is badly damaged. Reports are 1) wind shear; 2) pilot lost all power just prior to landing.
Pilot needs some time off and a very large and stiff drink.

They should have put that plane on a treadmill.

Now THIS took brilliant flying, a very cool head and nerves of steel IMO.
I watched a documentary about it a few months ago.

total loss of power on a triple-seven.... do you fly on that equipment? Traffic at Heathrow backed up with likely some spillover delay elsewhere.
Maybe AirBus will pick up some sales? (anyone remember the guy who was absolutely convinced that the AirBus heavy's habit of losing its tail was no big deal?)

Re: BA 777 Crash-Lands At Heathrow
i just got back from a business trip, 4 NWA flights..... The first two were god aweful, the FA was a total tit. The flight was delayed by about 45 minutes, the same amount of time that i had to make my connection. He told me it was my fault if i missed my next flight as i didnt have the foresight to leave more time between flights!!! W*nker!
Never mind teh fact that the NWA website only gave me that flight as an option!
Saving grace, the 2 return flights were MUCH better! Gold star

FWIW, I've had arguments with airlines over the schedules they have posted in our reservation system, ie don't tell me you can make a 25 or 30 minute connection in ATL, IAD etc. THEY say that if they post it then it's a legitimate connection. Uh huh, legitimate until client misses flight because getting from point A to B in the big airports on top of tight connection is no good. I only ever book a client in a tight connection IF they insist, otherwise I try to be as generous as possible because of the old CYA principle.
NWA sucks by the way. Southwest rocks plus their frequent flier program is off the chain.

The best quote about this whole story though was "....the pilot deserves a medal the size of a frying pan" haha only in the UK.

I think that airlines that use the hub and spoke system are trying to plan flights for a model that doesn't support the amount that they schedule for. I think Southwest Airlines has a leg up on them because of this. They use the point to point system and have more domestic flights than anyone else other than American Airlines and their on-time rate is much better than any other airline in the US. I know that Aloha air is number one but when you look at their routes it's like no s*** Sherlock.
